Small Victories
I mentioned in my last writing that we have welcomed baby #2 to our family. It has been a sweet time of life to have a new baby in the family. Before we welcomed him in February, I had a pretty good house routine that I kept up with. I knew when I was going to do a thorough cleaning of the house, I knew when I was going to wash/fold laundry, etc. I have struggled for the past few months on finding a good rhythm, and there are days where I felt absolutely horrible because I could hardly accomplish anything that I wanted to. I have decided a few weeks ago to change my perspective.
I often get frustrated because I did not accomplish EVERYTHING on my list. I have decided instead to celebrate the things I DID accomplish on my list, and it makes me grateful instead of frustrated.
Obviously, I spend a lot of time with my babies. I make accomplishments each day by raising them, loving on them, feeding them, and all the other many things… I taped a leaf today because my daughter was sad that the leaf was broken and asked if I could tape it. I include it in my small victory for today.
Despite all these small victories, sometimes I can feel like I didn’t do anything if I didn’t do something in the house. Yesterday, I folded a small load of washcloths and towels. The day before that, I was able to put all of the laundry away. And today, I taped a leaf back together (and have not done anything else house related).
I just want to encourage someone who may be struggling to focus on the small victories, not on the things that you didn’t get done today. God sees you and is with you everyday.
