Eyes On Me
Have you ever seen someone point their index finger and middle finger at their eyes and then gesture it towards someone and say, “I’ve got my eyes on you!”? My daughter and husband have done this a few times to each other, and it’s quite cute.
I was holding my 3.5 month old in one arm and a Barbie doll with my other hand. I was waving the Barbie doll around for my daughter and making silly noises. The whole time I was doing this, I noticed my daughter and son looking straight at my eyes/face - watching my every move.
As I went back and forth between making eye contact with both of them, their beautiful eyes just stayed locked on mine. I felt this immense feeling of gratitude for being their mama, and I felt a huge wave of love. Among those feelings came a feeling I wasn’t quite prepared for… responsibility. Now, keep in mind, I am responsible for their well-being every single day, and I take that very seriously. This was different. I saw 2 pairs of beautiful blue eyes locked on mine, and I was reminded of a large responsibility I have.
Their eyes are on me. Am I praying? Am I reading my Bible? Am I pointing them to Jesus? Am I exemplifying the fruits of the Spirit? Am I showing them how to be a kind human being to others? Am I showing them how to worship unashamedly?
One of the most stirring messages that I heard a few years ago was entitled “Someone’s Hanging On You” by Bro. Matthew Tuttle. The gravity of that message came back to me as I watched my two beautiful babies look at me.
Even if you don’t have small kids of your own, there are possibly young people or children looking up to you as you walk with God. I encourage you to stay the course and keep walking with God.

What a big responsibility for sure!
